White Fillings

Many patients are choosing to have white filling material placed when their old metal fillings need replacing. This will replace unsightly grey fillings with ones that match the natural tooth shade. White fillings are not suitable in all situations but your dentist will be able to give you their expert opinion in each case.

Tooth Whitening

Tooth whitening is a method used by dentists to improve the colour of teeth to natural whiteness through a bleaching process. Teeth can become discoloured from frequently drinking red wine, tea, coffee, smoking, taking antibiotics or simply be part of the ageing process. Impressions will be taken to enable a specially fitted tray to be made which will be filled with bleaching solution and work daily at home.

A tooth that has been broken or weakened by decay or a very large filling may require a crown. The remaining tooth is expertly shaped by your dentist and a crown is constructed (by a laboratory) to fit over the remaining tooth. This restores the tooth to full function and can improve appearance.

A bridge is a laboratory made porcelain appliance that is permanently attached to neighbouring teeth replacing a missing tooth or teeth. There are several types/designs of bridge each of which is suitable for different cases. Your dentist will first assess the health of the remaining teeth before discussing the options for replacing any missing teeth. A bridge may be part of these options.

Oral Health Care

Our team of dentists and hygienists will work with you to maintain healthy teeth and gums. Gingivitis (gum inflammation) and periodontitis (gum disease) can be prevented or controlled with regular visits, focussing on improving cleaning techniques and removal of tartar and staining on the teeth.

Root Canal Fillings

Heavily filled, injured or decayed teeth may suffer nerve damage possibly leading to dental infections (abscesses). Root canal treatment involves cleaning and sealing the tooth internally with a rubber based material to prolong its life.

Orthodontic Treatment

We are now able to offer patients of all ages a variety of treatments to correct irregular teeth and produce lovely smiles. Sarah Grieve, our specialist orthodontist is able to use the latest modern techniques including invisible braces.

Dental implants are one of the options for replacing a missing tooth or teeth. They look, feel and function just like a natural tooth. A dental implant is a small titanium screw which is surgically placed in the jaw providing an anchor for the new tooth or teeth. We work closely with local specialist centres for implant placement. The final tooth construction can be carried out at the practice.

Veneers are one of the options for improving the appearance of teeth. A veneer is a very thin layer of porcelain that is fitted to the front surface of a tooth. Our technicians make the porcelain so it can improve the colour and shape of the teeth.
