Nicola qualified from Guy's Hospital Dental School, University of London in 1997. In 2000 she became a member of the Dental Surgery Faculty of the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons (Glasgow). She has worked in oral & maxillofacial surgery within the hospital system, and has been in general practice since 2000. She took over the practice with Chrissie and Andrew in 2006. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family and sailing.
Andrew Wickenden BDS (Lond) DGPD (UK) Dip DSedDentist (GDC 64077)Andrew joined the practice in 2006 when the current Co-ownership became established. He graduated from Guy's Hospital (London) in 1988 and has been in General Dental Practice in Cranleigh and Dorking previously. He has a special interest in conscious sedation and has been a Trustee for the Society of Advancement of Anaesthesia in Dentistry since 2008. Andrew is married to Gill, has three children and enjoys golf, walking and is very involved in the local church.
Nilam Shah BDS (LOND), MrPharmS, PG Clin dip (Dist. Pharm)Dentist (GDC 296045)Nilam graduated as a dentist from King's College London in 2021 and is currently completing her dental foundation training with us at Billingshurst Dental. She enjoys all aspects of dentistry, especially oral surgery, endodontics and paediatric dentistry. Nilam is also a qualified pharmacist and has previously worked in the hospital setting. She is enthusiastic about providing advice and treatment to all her patients, to help improve their oral health. Outside of dentistry, Nilam enjoys spending time with family and friends, experimenting with different cuisines and travelling.
Sharon PalmerHygienist (GDC 3127)As a school leaver, Sharon began her career in dentistry at a family dental practice in Milton Keynes. Following qualiﬁcation as a dental nurse, she left to train as a Dental Hygienist. She qualiﬁed as a Dental Hygienist in March 1986 at King’s College Dental Hospital and returned to the same practice in Milton Keynes to work full time as a hygienist. Following a short career break to have her two children and relocation to West Sussex, she returned to work. She has worked at Billingshurst Dental Practice since January 2010. She is fully committed to on-going professional development and training. She believes passionately in promoting good dental health. She hopes to motivate people so that we can work together to achieve this aim.

We have a very loyal and dedicated team of dental nurses. They are either fully qualified or currently undergoing a recognised training pathway. All are motivated and are constantly undergoing training to expand their knowledge. Our nurses are a vital part of your experience, their aim is to ensure our patients feel at ease and they are happy to answer any questions that you may have. Christine Carey BDS (Lond)Dentist (GDC 71021)Chrissie qualified in 1995 from Guy's Hospital Dental School, London. She joined the practice in 2001 as an associate and became a Co-owner alongside Nicola and Andrew in 2006. She has a special interest in treating nervous patients and is a member of the Society of Advancement of Anaesthesia in Dentistry. Chrissie is married with two young children and enjoys running in her spare time.
Kate De Groot BDS (Lond) PG Dip Endo (UCL Eastman)Dentist (GDC 78112)Kate qualified in 2000 from the Royal London Hospital and has been working in General Practice for the last 15 years. She has a special interest in Endodontics (root canal treatment). This led her to pursue a 2 year post graduate Diploma in Endodontics at the Eastman Dental Hospital, which she completed in September 2015. Kate now provides a referral service for root canal treatments at Billingshurst Dental Practice both internally and from outside referring dentists. She is a member of the British Endodontic Society (and the British Bleaching Society). She is married to another dentist, Mike, and has three children. She enjoys cooking, running, cycling and swimming.
Mariella Mackinlay BDS (Wales) HonsDentist (GDC 284343) Mariella graduated from Cardiff University in 2019 and completed Foundation Training with the London KSS Deanery. She has worked in General Practice ever since and joined Billingshurst Dental Practice in October 2020. Mariella enjoys all aspects of dentistry and has a particular interest in restorative and paediatric dentistry. She particularly enjoys carrying out tooth coloured restorations and treating nervous patients. Mariella is passionate about creating a friendly environment where anxious patients can feel at ease undergoing treatment and hopes to nurture and develop her patients interest in improving and caring for their oral health. Away from dentistry, Mariella enjoys cycling, open water swimming, tennis and yoga.
Toni RichmanPractice Manager (GDC 109835)Toni has been with Billingshurst Dental Practice for many years. She is a qualified Dental Nurse & has a special interest in assisting with sedation. Toni undertook training in 2008 & now has a diploma in Practice Management. If you have any queries regarding your treatment or services available she will be pleased to assist you.
Marie FittHygienist (GDC 6218)Marie Qualified in 23003 at the Defence Dental Training Establishment, whilst serving in the Royal Air Force. Marie moved to the area in 2013 after living and working in Berkshire/Surrey area and London. She enjoys working with nervous patients and spending time building confidence and working with them to overcome their fears. Marie likes spending time baking, running and going to the gym, as well as spending time with her two children.
